Suzanne Davies

Suzanne is a dedicated community‑builder with a lifelong passion for supporting people, strengthening regional communities, and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and included.

Suzanne’s career when she moved to Buchan in 1989 started as a Kindergarten Teacher, where she discovered her love for helping children and families thrive. She later stepped into the role of Coordinator at the Buchan Neighbourhood House, combining community development with an arts focus that brought creativity and connection to the district.

While working, Suzanne completed her Graduate Certificate in Community Development through Monash University, deepening her commitment to grassroots leadership and rural resilience.

Her career then took her to the iconic Point Hicks Lighthouse Station on the East Coast of Victoria, where she managed the lighthouse precinct and both surrounding campgrounds. From there, she joined the Wilderness Society, advocating for tourism as a sustainable economic pathway for the Buchan–Gelantipy district.

Suzanne continues to give back generously through volunteer leadership.  Suzanne serves on four Community Committees of Management:

  • Buchan Neighbourhood House Inc. – Secretary
  • Buchan Arts Council Inc. – Secretary
  • Centre for Rural Communities Inc. – Secretary
  • Buchan/Gelantipy District Renewal Committee as a COM Member, supporting recovery and rebuilding after the devastating 2020 wildfires

Today, Suzanne works directly with people in her community, supporting clients through NDIS and Aged‑Care whilst completing her Aged Care and Disability qualifications. Her work is grounded in compassion, respect, and a genuine belief in the power of community to change lives.
