While living in East Gippsland, Helen was inspired by the Rural Women’s Program introduced by Helenè Brophy.
This led to her enrolment in Adult Education at the University of South Australia, to teach Diploma of Community Development at TAFE, and later to research and design a post-graduate program for Regional Community Development facilitators at Monash University.
Her book, Growing and Learning in Rural Communities: Revised Edition is a contribution to the community engagement sector. It gives access to skills, knowledge and resources that assist organisations, workers and communities work towards living in harmony with each other and their environment.
