The Centre’s vision is of people and place existing in harmony. The Centre was formed in 1995 to work towards the development of rural communities that are socially, environmentally and economically sustainable.
We believe community building is about local people working together to strengthen their communities and improve the places in which they live, and about authorities listening to what local people have to say and supporting them to develop projects that achieve their own goals and dreams.
The Centre promotes an understanding of rural development, building on existing assets, local knowledge, resources and management by local people. We maintain that co-operation and collaboration are key principles of community development programs.
Online, offline, on the beach, in the forest – diversity of membership and local ownership of planning has been the key to the Centre’s success.
